Books and DVD

It is sometimes difficult to explain in childlike words what is ADHD. That is why Dr Annick Vincent wrote My Brain Needs Glasses. She wanted to make it dynamic and colourful. The drawings are the works of several children of her neighbourhood. There is such a demand for information on this subject that her book in its original French version, Mon cerveau a besoin de lunettes, made the best sellers list in Quebec.

After the success of her first book and at the request of her adult patients, she then wrote a book on ADHD for adults in a friendly, convenient and pleasant format to read: My Brain Still Need Glasses. The French version of this book, Mon cerveau a encore besoin de lunettes, won the prize for achievement of the year 2005 from the Association des médecins psychiatres du Québec.

Dr Annick Vincent's books and DVD which was produced at the hospital where she works, explain in a dynamic, colourful and accessible way what ADHD is and what tools ... or pairs of glasses ... are now available. Dr Kathleen Nadeau, a well-known expert in ADHD in the United States wrote about My Brain STILL Needs Glasses: "Your book is very brief and user-friendly and can provide a good introduction to ADHD in adults that is not provided by other, longer books that have been published here. I especially like your section on medication and what to expect – so many adults are prescribed medication by physicians that give them very few guidelines about either side effects or benefits other than very general comments on how stimulants should help increase ability to focus."

Here, in Quebec, professionals and support groups like PANDA and AQETA regularly use these tools to help them in their advice to people suffering from ADHD and to their family members.
